iPad Nerdery Day 2: A Weighty Tome
Reflection The more I consider the potential of the iPad and read comments from smart people who have touched the thing, the more intrigued I am of it’s potential and the less skeptical I become of its value. As a huge geek, I’ve spent far too much thinking about this since yesterday. Is there actually a place for a device to exist between the 13” MacBook/MacBook Pro/MacBook Air...

One more thing!
People are asking how/why you would carry this around since it’s not pocketable. It’s a good question, but isn’t the answer obvious? Juggalo pants.

Some thoughts on the iPad
You’ve seen this. Don’t pretend like you haven’t. Some thoughts: The interface adjustments for a larger screen (especially mail) look awesome, but at the end of the day it still seems like a big iPod touch, which kind of defeats the purpose, no? That bezel is ugly huge The price is the only real show-stopper Screen is 4:3, which I find odd The “keyboard” looks...

Shameless self-promotion
But is that promotion shameless if what you’re promoting is completely retarded? A question for another day, I suppose. Anyways, my latest joint venture capital investment with my friends Mike, Lucas, and Nick is Mug Reviews: Reviews of mugs and mug accoutrement. We live mostly sedentary, office-bound lifestyles. As such, we consume a lot of different liquids — caffeinated or...

Just great
Between Lance and Mike, I think it’s safe to assume that the Secret World Government (shhhhhhhh) is soon going to swarm Tumblr and all of our fun will be ruined. Thanks a lot, guys. Post some photos of Mole Men, why don’t you?

– Jerry Holkins of Penny Arcade discussing what it must be like to compete with Apple. He’s probably right. Most pundits of the tech industry simply say other companies are reactionary to Apple, and nearly every time a CEO does an interview or gets on stage to announce something, they...

“I’m the son of a newsman. My father wrote for a paper for 20 years. It’s a very difficult, tricky time for most of you in this room right now, as you well know, not because of the economy necessarily but because of all the other issues. I still like to read the newspaper. I wish you all the best of luck. I’m a fan of what you do, and I hope you continue to get to do it....

The Beaver gets a new name An iconic Canadian history magazine is changing its name to avoid a variety of misunderstandings. … “Use of the word ‘beaver’ on the internet has taken on an identity that nobody could have perceived in 1920,” said Deborah Morrison, president of Canada’s National Historical Society. Books I re-read in 2009
Rat Saw God, because in grade nine it was the first book I ever read that made me appreciate reading, and I felt like I needed that feeling again. The Areas of My Expertise to reacquaint myself with the brilliance of John Hodgman before I read More Information Than You Require. As a bonus, I also listened to the audiobooks of both of these from September to January while at the gym. Blankets,...

Turning WiFi into electricity
Shipping this summer, the pocketable dongle picks up WiFi signals from the air and manages to charge an internal battery through some magic inside. If real, this is hands down the coolest and most useful new technology to come out of CES 2010. I want this built into my iPhone right now. (via Engadget)
